ACK!
ACK, is a popular little nickname for the gorgeous island of Nantucket. Personally when I hear, “ACK”, the voice of the duck from the Aflac Insurance commercials pops into my head (I may be the only one that thinks that). My trip was filled with endless sunshine, salty hair, and the most decadent and fresh seafood out there.

The Hot Months.
I am not much of a Summer lady. Though, I like the holidays and the time off, the heat and humidity can make me a little grumpy. I find riding my bike, Ruby, and taking photos alleviates my frowns and makes me smirk once more.

Scanned Fiber Prints.
The title is direct, even after an effort to ponder up a witty catch phrase. I first learned photography in the darkroom but seemingly drifted into the digital world like many people out there. But as I head back to school, Art School specifically, I find myself right back where I started. It’s been awhile since I used my scanner to scan prints as evident by apparent collection of dust I tried whole heartedly to remove.

Quaintness.
It’s not your average day to go for an excursion, nevertheless, I drove to two places I’ve been eager to shoot. Historic Occoquan, Virginia and Del Rey, Virginia. Both, quaint and charming in their own ways.

Unfamiliarity.
This weekend I set out to work on a film photography project and being b&w film photography isn’t my favorite realm in the art world I brought along my beloved Canon 5D Mark II for comfort. Living in Old Town Alexandria and spending most of my time in Georgetown & Downtown D.C I never really see the beauty from abandoned buildings and the housing of Southeast and Southwest D.C. While my film develops and the photos process here are my digital shots.

“Blub, Blub, Blub”, said the little Fish.
On a photo scout with friend and photographer, Paul Simkin, where else did we wander but the obvious—the Fish Market on Maine Ave.

“BAAAAH” said the little Lamb.
Went to Mt. Vernon with the fam… So many cute barn yard friends and a camel.

Film Studies.
The last I was in a dark room it was 2006 senior year in the Northern state of Montana. The darkroom is now 4 times the size and the use of a hand held light meter is required. Even though I have an affinity for color, the red lights, chemical smell, and projectors were refreshing. (P.S. If you have stitches on your fingers wear multiple layers of gloves because, well, fixer burns).
